The world of news has changed drastically over the past few decades. The time where we get our news from the paper and television broadcasts has been nearly replaced by the web and social media. We now live in a time where we can get our news as it happens and no longer need to wait for the paper to come out or for the video crew to get on scene. Social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter allow us to get our news from “secondary sources” immediately as the story unfolds. These sources can now keep us updated on current events as they happen and from a point of view that competes against the big news corporations. I don’t believe that print and broadcast news will be replaced entirely by social media, however, I do feel that social media will soon take over the world of news the same way video broadcasting did with print.
